Jimmy Flannigan

Background

Jimmy Flannigan was elected to Austin City Council in 2016. He grew up in San Antonio and attended The University of Texas at Austin. Prior to his election, Flannigan was president of the Austin LGBT chamber.

Homelessness

Flannigan voted to rescind public camping and sit/lie restrictions in June 2019. He also voted to partially reinstate camping restrictions in October 2019.

Public Safety

Flannigan voted in favor of FY21 budget amendments that cut the police department budget by as much as $150 million and canceled cadet classes next year. Flannigan also put forth proposals to split the police department into five different entities and relocate police headquarters.
