Background
Mackenzie Kelly is a lifelong resident of Austin. She worked as a volunteer firefighter for the Jollyville Fire Department for eight years. Kelly serves as the president of the nonprofit Take-Back Austin and is a graduate of the Austin Police Department Citizen Police Academy.
Homelessness
Kelly favors reinstating public camping bans and disapproves of the city’s strategy of buying and repurposing hotels to shelter homeless individuals.
Public Safety
Kelly is a self-proclaimed public safety advocate, saying “it is critical that we support our police and funding them.”
